A newly released infographic by Rittgers & Rittgers, Attorneys at Law, compiles the latest data to show that Ohio is one of the most dangerous states for motorcyclists relative to its total population. This new infographic is a helpful and comprehensive review of accident data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ohio State Highway Patrol, and other trusted federal data sources that show how dangerous the road can be for Ohio motorcyclists. In addition to these dangers, the infographic also explores the benefits of additional helmet usage and the unusually high rate of uninsured drivers in Ohio.

“The majority of motorcycle crashes are avoidable,” said Charles M. Rittgers. “We hope that greater awareness of motorcycle riders by Ohio drivers will drastically reduce the number of motorcycle crashes and save lives.”

A few key facts from the infographic include:

  • Since 2014, more than 800 Ohio motorcyclists have been killed in accidents.
  • Ohio has the fourth-highest motorcycle fatality rate of U.S. states.
  • Universal helmet usage would have saved the lives of at least 42 motorcyclists.

With the summer weather quickly approaching, it is more critical than ever for everyone on the road to be aware of motorcyclists and the dangers that they face. Serious motor vehicle accidents involving motorcyclists can cause severe injuries and potentially lifelong disabilities. This new infographic will educate Ohio drivers and motorcyclists about how they are at risk and what to be aware of on the road.
