The Philadelphia office of national law firm Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Aughtry hosted a State and Local Tax (SALT) Update on Sept. 8 featuring shareholder Stewart M. Weintraub, senior counsel Jennifer Weidler Karpchuk and associate Adam M. Koelsch as speakers.
The presentation covered a wide range of topics affecting local business owners, including real estate assessments, Philadelphia business taxes, business audit preparation, collection actions, and appealing tax assessments.

Currently the SALT practice chair, Weintraub’s practice has centered on taxation for more than 40 years. Karpchuk represents clients in all aspects of state and local tax compliance and litigation, including challenging audit determinations and real estate assessment decisions, seeking refunds from state and local governments, handling administrative appeals, litigating unresolved disputes in state and local courts, and handling post-trial appeals.
Koelsch, a former Deputy City Solicitor in the City of Philadelphia Law Department, is experienced in high-dollar-value/complex local tax cases. He represents clients in audits, administrative appeals and judicial appeals, including state intermediate appellate courts, state Supreme courts and U.S. Supreme Court.
