Fort Lauderdale, FL (Law Firm Newswire) November 9, 2011 - Aviation transaction attorney Stewart H. Lapayowker was recently appointed as the Vice Chairman of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Tax Committee at the annual meeting of the NBAA Tax Committee. Lapayowker will serve a two-year term as Vice Chair and will bring his wealth of experience to address aircraft transaction matters, aviation insurance and federal as well as state tax matters, and regulatory concerns.
“I am excited to be appointed by the NBAA to this role and look forward to actively working with the leadership team and NBAA liaisons to address significant issues facing business aviation,” said aviation lawyer Stewart H. Lapayowker, P.A.
Lapayowker previously served as the NBAA Tax Committee Recording Secretary and the Chair of the Aircraft Transactions Working Group and Vice Chair of its Regulatory Working Group. The Tax Committee helps NBAA members understand the implications of the Internal Revenue Service Rules, Federal Aviation Regulations, and the Securities and Exchange Commission Rules.
“It is important for everyone involved in business aircraft to know the differences between the IRS and FAA regulations to succeed,” Lapayowker said. “The Tax Committee helps to create meaningful resources for our 8,000-plus member companies.”
The NBAA was founded in 1947 and is based in Washington, D.C. to serve members by promoting business aviation throughout the nation and abroad. Each year it holds a Tax, Regulatory & Risk Management Conference to address the latest in business aviation including ownership and leasing options, aircraft registration, insurance, personal use, and FAR matters. The NBAA is also part of the No Plane No Gain organization that educates the general public about how business aviation is vital to the economy, jobs, and many communities with little access to commercial airplanes.
“The NBAA goes beyond discussing tax issues and advocating for business aviation,” said Lapayowker. “The organization continually looks to improve operational efficiency and safety, air traffic control modernization, noise and compatible land use, and reform product liability and FAA rules. Air space access, landing fees, and reliever airports are also big priorities.”
